About Wise Owl

A Smaller School Built Around the Individual Child

Wise Owl is a K–12 private school in North York that has been helping children learn, grow, and build confidence for more than 25 years.

We follow the Ontario curriculum while creating a more personal learning environment — one where teachers have the opportunity to know each student, understand how they learn, notice when they need help, and recognize when they are ready for a greater challenge.

Our goal is not simply academic achievement. We want children to become confident, curious, independent learners who feel supported and known at school.

K–12 Education
A consistent learning environment from kindergarten through Grade 12.
Smaller Classes
A 10:1 student–teacher ratio creates more opportunities for individual attention and interaction.
Ontario Curriculum + Enrichment
Core Ontario curriculum strengthened through STEM, the arts, inquiry, hands-on learning, and enrichment.
Whole-Child Support
Academic, social, and emotional development are all part of the school experience.

A School Tour Should Be About Your Child

At Wise Owl, a tour is more than a walkthrough. It’s a conversation about your child — their strengths, personality, interests, learning style, past school experiences, and what you hope their next school experience will look like.

  • Their child's strengths and interests
  • How their child learns best
  • Where they may need additional support
  • Where they may be ready for greater challenge
“I think of the tour less as a walkthrough and more as a conversation.”

Why Parents Consider Wise Owl

What Could Be Different for Your Child?

Many families come to us wondering whether a smaller, more personal environment would suit their child better than the one they’re in now.

Many parents who visit Wise Owl aren’t simply looking for another school. They’re looking for an environment where their child can receive more attention, feel more comfortable participating, be challenged appropriately, and develop stronger relationships with the adults teaching them.

Smaller Classes. More Attention.

With fewer students per teacher, children have more opportunity to ask questions, participate, receive feedback, and learn at a pace that fits them.

Known, Not Just Enrolled.

Teachers get to know each student's personality, learning style, interests, strengths and areas for growth.

At Wise Owl, students are known by name.

More Than Academics.

Wise Owl follows the Ontario curriculum and builds on it through enrichment, hands-on experiences, independent inquiry and opportunities for students to become confident and curious learners.

Safe. Understood. Supported.

Alongside academics, teachers help students develop confidence, communicate respectfully, manage challenges and build healthy relationships.

We want every child to feel that they belong, that their voice matters, and that they are capable of growing.

The School Day

Learning Is Structured — But Never One-Size-Fits-All

Wise Owl follows the Ontario curriculum while giving teachers the flexibility to respond to the students in front of them. A typical day varies by grade, but students may experience:

  • Language and mathematics
  • Science and social studies
  • French
  • STEM and inquiry-based learning
  • Art, music, and drama
  • Physical activity and outdoor time
  • Independent work
  • Collaborative learning
  • Opportunities for enrichment and additional support

Support When It’s Needed. Challenge When It’s Ready.

Teachers monitor student progress and adjust support when appropriate. That may mean additional explanation, guided practice, individual or small-group support, reinforcement of essential skills, or greater enrichment for students who are ready to move ahead.

School + Family

Parents Stay Part of the Conversation

We believe children thrive when their school and family work together.

Parents receive regular information about their child’s progress, achievements, behaviour, and areas that may need additional attention.

Communication may include

  • Progress updates
  • Report cards
  • Classroom newsletters
  • Email and phone communication
  • Scheduled meetings
  • Informal conversations when appropriate

Parents are also encouraged to share anything that may help us better understand and support their child.

From Our Founder

A School Where Your Child Is Known

I started Wise Owl because I believe every child deserves to be known by name, challenged at the right pace, and supported by teachers who genuinely see them.

Twenty-five years later, that belief continues to shape the Wise Owl experience.

A visit isn’t a sales pitch. It’s an opportunity for us to hear about your child, understand what they need to thrive, and help you determine whether Wise Owl could be the right place for your family.
